Under current law, part-time solicitors may practice law, but may not practice in their state court.  This legislation only prohibits solicitors from representing defendants in criminal matters in their state court.

This legislation creates the Georgia Emergency 9-1-1 Support Authority to assist E-911 centers with implementing new technologies, auditing telecommunication companies to ensure proper collection and payment of E-911 fees, assist and support regional E-911 facilities and provide E-911 grants.  The authority members are made-up of appointed local elected officials and staff.  Funding for the authority would come from voluntary contributions by the local governments receiving services and additional revenues produced by increasing the prepaid E-911 fee from .75 cents per transaction to $1.50 per transaction.

Trauma Care System
This legislation allows the county to adopt a local ordinance authorizing the sale of consumer fireworks. Also provides for a 10 percent excise tax on all fireworks sales. All revenues collectioed shall be paid to the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission and the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council in equal amounts.

End Local Option Sales Tax Negotiations

This legislation, if passed in a statewide referendum, would amend the constitution to end city/county negotiations on Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) and require all LOST revenues to be applied to reducing the property tax bill. LOST would be split between counties and cities based upon population and the county would use its share to reduce property taxes in the unincorporated area. The property tax dollar savings from LOST would have to be shown on each property tax bill.
